Constellation Starborn Suit v1.1
This mod is an enhancement to the original Constellation Replacer – Starborn by Bizarrogreg by making it a proper replacer to the Constellation Spacesuit which includes companion default spacesuit as well to use the starborn model and constellation skin. It is completely standalone mod that does not affect starborn and mantis spacesuit mods.
Lore Background
After touching the artifact, Barrett experienced visions of lights and music, but on top of that he also gained some form of mysterious technology designs in his head. He put his experience towards the other Constellation members, while others can’t seem to experience the same vision when touching the artifact, Barrett expressed the mysterious technology designs and put it forward to Noel. After a thorough analysis of the design, Walter stepped in and offer his Stroud-Eklund company resources to manufacture this strange design to make it into reality.
Thus, the Constellation Starborn Spacesuit prototype is born and upon testing they have found that this technology far surpassed the current spacesuit technology the settled systems have. It gives more protection to the wearer, it’s more robust and also seals its wearer against any known environmental hazards when fully equipped and it’s done in such a way that the spacesuit is thin and form-fitting. So, Walter decided that this spacesuit should be scaled up and become the standard for Constellation exploration equipment. Now everyone in Constellation has access to equip themselves with this cutting-edge spacesuit technology.
Spacesuit Features:
The spacesuit is split into three parts:
– Body Spacesuit
– Default variant has metal emissary plates
– Alternate variant without the plate
– Helmet
– Default variant will have transparent visor so you can see your companions face during dialog
– Opaque visor variant if you prefer not to see your character/your companions face
– Boost pack
I’ve mirrored the stats to match the Starborn Gravis suit for balancing purposes when wearing all three components together. And the spacesuit comes with pre-equipped mods that I find to be helpful when exploration such as environmental resistance that can reach your full cap limit (either 85 in vanilla, or it can also overflow to 100 when modded to give yourself a full environmental seal).
Each of the components also come in Legendary rarity with what I feel to be the most useful legendary traits for each. But you can still use other mods if you want to change the legendary traits to something else if you prefer.
This spacesuit also compatible with Simple Immersive Helmets without the need of a patch. So even if you don’t use that mod, it still works fine.
By default, all Constellation Companions like Sarah, Barrett, Sam and Andreja have this modded spacesuit with their names written on the chest piece, which also means they wear the variant with the metal plates and transparent visor. But you can override this by giving them the other variants to equip. But note that this will remove the name tags on their chest pieces. But their default spacesuit has identical stats as the player-playable ones.
The helmet, while it’s using the hunter model as is from the original mod when worn, there’s no world model for the hunter helmet design, so the helmet world model is using the emissary style, but we have done all we can to match the materials and colours of the helmet itself and the visor. This is also a separate standalone model, so it does not get impacted by any other mods that you use that changes any starborn spacesuit textures. This is if you want to mount the helmet in display cases.
The Backpack also have a world model in case you want to mount them on display as well. The world model is using the Mantis default model which we have also recoloured to match the starborn boost pack piece on the spacesuit. It’s not exactly 100%, but I feel like the Mantis model is the closest design that we can get to the look of the boost pack part in the spacesuit. The world model is also a separate standalone model, so it will not get impacted if you use any other mods that changes the default Mantis backpack design. When worn, the backpack is invisible, so it uses the jetpack effect from the boost pack part of the spacesuit.
If you apply the settings to hide the spacesuit in settlements, jumping and using the boost pack will show the entire spacesuit so that it doesn’t feel like your character is boosting with an invisible boost pack over your outfit.
There’s also an alternate variant of the mod without the replacer, so constellation companions will still have their default spacesuit designs, but you can still obtain the starborn spacesuits as a standalone if you want. But choose to install one or the other, don’t install both.
You can obtain the spacesuits from the industrial workbench. It’s completely free because Walter has decided that all Constellation members and crew should be supplied with the spacesuit, so Walter and the Constellation organisation is taking care of the costs needed.
Disclaimer:
The default spacesuit worn by the constellation companions have the keyword added to show the spacesuit when boosting, but it doesn’t seem to work on an existing save. My guess is because the spacesuit addition mod is baked into your save file after you meet the companions. This issue should not happen if you start a brand-new game or NG+, otherwise the workaround is you give them the playable spacesuit to equip, but this would mean that you’ll lose their name tags on the chest piece.
