Quantum Reactor(TECH) Skill v1.0
Adds a new Master(tier 4) Tech skill called “Quantum Reactor” that boosts the extra units of power Aneutronic Fusion (a Master science tier skill) outputs.
The Skill & What It Does
The mod adds a new Master level Tech skill called “Quantum Reactor” which sole purpose is to boost the extra units of power Aneutronic Fusion gives by multiples of 2, 3, 4, and 5 (based on skill rank).
Rank 1: Multiplies the extra power from Aneutronic Fusion by 2.
Rank 2: Multiplies the extra power from Aneutronic Fusion by 3.
Rank 3: Multiplies the extra power from Aneutronic Fusion by 4.
Rank 4: Multiplies the extra power from Aneutronic Fusion by 5.
Skill Challenges
Rank 1 to Rank 2: Collect <10> Quantum Essence – see Known Issues
Rank 2 to Rank 3: Make <25> Grav Jumps
Rank 3 to Rank 4: Destroy <50> ships
NOTE:
A “No Skill Challenges” version exist (Choose only -ONE- main file) which eliminates the skill challenges from both Aneutronic Fusion (since that skill is edited) and the new skill Quantum Reactor.
Why Not Just Boost Aneutronic Fusion?
While I originally intended to do just that, I felt a more in-game / lore reason should justify the player’s desire to expend enough points down both the Science and Tech trees in order to give themselves a big boost in ship power. So why not the Quantum Essence that Starborn drop?! With the advancement of research and technology, the player can discover the method of transforming their reactors into a more powerful version!
Known Issues
The “Collect Quantum Essence” challenge doesn’t calculate the total Quantum Essence (either from starting before you get the skill, or by using mods or console commands to obtain more than 1 quantum essence at a time). The vanilla experience gives you 1 Quantum Essence each time you kill a Starborn in space or on the ground, and that’s what the challenge tracks. So really it’s “Kill 10 starborn”.
