Better Smart Aiming SFSE – Third Person Scope and Aim Fixes v1.2

SmartAiming-style 3rd-to-1st person aim switching with optional optimized scope-only mode, zoom-out handling, improved directional alignment and configurable INI.

Required:
Address Library for SFSE Plugins
Starfield Script Extender (SFSE)

DESCRIPTION
Better Smart Aiming improves third-person aiming by switching to first person when you aim, with an optional scope-only mode, while first syncing the player-facing direction to the third-person reticle direction. This fixes the directional aiming issues in the original Smart Aiming and Smart Aiming SFSE – Third to First Person (Updated) mods, where first-person aiming was based on where the character was facing instead of where the third-person crosshair was pointing.

No ESP. SFSE plugin only.

INSTALLATION
Or Manual:
– Copy TheMudsy-BetterSmartAiming.dll to Data\SFSE\Plugins\

The INI will be created automatically if missing:
Data\SFSE\Plugins\TheMudsy-BetterSmartAiming.ini

FEATURES
– Switches from third person to first person when aiming, with optional scope-only mode
– Syncs player yaw from the third-person reticle direction before entering first person
– Helps ADS start in the direction your crosshair was pointing
– Optional scope-only mode for scoped weapons (more optimized than normal scoping); non-scoped weapons aim in third person
– Optional keep jump/hover ADS in third person: avoids first-person hover camera pitch bug – can improve airborne accuracy
– Optional native zoom-out after returning to third person, preventing Starfield’s default zoomed-in third-person camera
– No ESM

Settings
; This is NOT necessary if using this with my other plugin, “Always Zoom Out SFSE – Adjustable Third Person” – will automatically disable if detected.
; If true, the plugin calls Starfield’s native third-person max-zoom function immediately after returning from first-person aim to third person.
; Use this if you want to prevent Starfield from locking you to zoomed-in third person.
; Leave disabled if you prefer the zoomed-in third-person over-the-shoulder camera after aiming.
bZoomOutAfterExitFirstPerson=false

; If true, the plugin only switches third-person aiming to first person when using a scope (ScopeMenu open).
; Use this if you only want the smart first-person switch for scoped weapons. If false, all iron-sights aiming can switch to first person.
; This is faster and more efficient with CPU/GPU resources, and can reduce lag during scope aim.
bFirstPersonOnlyInScopeMenu=false

; If true, the plugin will NOT force first person when aiming while jumping or boost-hovering.
; This keeps jump/hover ADS in third person and avoids Starfield’s first-person hover camera pitch bug.
; Default: true
bKeepThirdPersonWhileJumpAiming=true

NOTES
The crosshair position after transitioning to first person is very close, but not 100% perfectly aligned. This is because Starfield’s first-person and third-person aim origins are different. It is usually not noticeable at medium to long distances, but can be more noticeable at close range. With the original Smart Aiming, and the updated version, you can often face the wrong direction when transitioning to first person, sometimes by up to ~80 degrees.
