Photo Mode Poses Expanded v1.0.1
95 new poses for Starfield’s photo mode
Vanilla photo mode gives your character nine poses. This adds 95 more — and the download is a single 27 KB plugin.
No script extender. No dependencies. No new animations, meshes or textures.
How a 27 KB mod adds 95 poses
It doesn’t ship any animations. It doesn’t need to.
Starfield is full of animation Bethesda authored for dialogue and quest scenes — characters standing, listening, arguing, reacting — and almost none of it is reachable in photo mode. This plugin makes 95 of those selectable.
Everything you pose with is Bethesda’s own work, already installed on your machine. The mod is just a list.
What you get
Body language, no props:
Arms Crossed · Hands Behind · Hands Together · Hands On Hips · Wounded · Cower · Captive
Two poses the game shipped but never switched on:
Captive and Arms Crossed exist in the game files with no way to select them. They work fine. They’re in.
Performance poses, one per scene so no two are variations of each other, each named for the moment it was authored for:
Alert · Alarm · Briefing · Arrival · Meeting · Conversation · Explaining · Directing · Questioning · Menacing · Speech · Greeting · Discussing · Farewell · Argument · Awe · Reunion · Confrontation · Decision · Mercy · Aftermath · Negotiation · and more
Install
Drop FieldOS_PhotoModePoses.esm in your Data folder and enable it, or install with a mod manager.
Then restart the game fully — plugins are only read at startup, so loading a save won’t do it.
In photo mode, step POSE CATEGORY across to CANDID. All 95 are in there, separate from vanilla’s list.
Uninstall is deleting the file. Nothing else is touched.
Read this before you download
I’d rather you know the limits up front than find them yourself.
– Human body type only. Starfield uses two player skeletons and each needs its own copy of every pose. Only the human one is covered. On the other body type you will not see these at all.
– No headtracking. Vanilla poses ship paired “look direction” files that drive photo mode’s headtracking toggle. Dynamically loaded poses don’t have those — including Bethesda’s own vehicle and Shattered Space poses — so the head stays where the animation puts it.
– These are performances, not statues. Most come from dialogue scenes, so there’s some motion rather than a frozen hold. Some people will like being able to catch a moment. If you want perfect stillness, the seven body-language poses at the top of the list are the stillest.
– The names are informed guesses. They describe the scene each animation was made for, which predicts the body language well — but not perfectly. A few are vague. Tell me which ones and I’ll rename or drop them.
Compatibility — it overrides nothing
The poses arrive in their own CANDID category, and this plugin does not override a single vanilla record. Not the standard pose list, not the vehicle category, nothing.
That means it cannot conflict with other pose mods. Run as many as you like, in any order — each one keeps its own category and all of them work at once.
Nothing else in the game is modified: no NPCs, no quests, no meshes, no textures, no game settings. Uninstall is deleting the file.
Tell me what’s missing
There are thousands more animations in the game files that qualify. I picked these; I have not personally looked at every one of them frame by frame, and a few will be duller than their name suggests.
So if a pose is bad, say which. If there’s a kind of pose you want and it isn’t here, say that too — sitting, leaning, anything with real attitude. That feedback is what decides the next version, and it’s cheap for me to act on.
Screenshots very welcome. They’re worth more than anything I can describe.
