Graf’s Outpost BioDome v1.0
A massive industrial biodome for player outposts that creates a breathable Earth-like atmosphere on any planet.
Overview:
Let’s be honest.
You conquered an alien world, built a thriving outpost… and now you’re living inside a stack of pressurized metal tubes and spending most of your day cycling airlocks.
Graf’s BioDome fixes that.
This fully custom-built geodesic biodome allows you to create a temperate breathable interior environment at your outpost, no matter how hostile the planet outside may be. Build it on a frozen vacuum, a methane swamp, or your favorite radiation-blasted rock — once inside the dome, you can remove your helmet and enjoy actual air like a proper human being.
Features:
– Creates a breathable Earth-type atmosphere inside the dome
– Remove spacesuits and helmets regardless of planetary conditions
– Build standard outpost habs inside without needing airlocks on each hab
– Large industrial airlock entrance allows vehicle entry
– Appears in the Structures category
– Fully vanilla compatible, no dependencies
Interior Space:
This is not a decorative snow globe.
The BioDome contains enough interior volume to hold 20+ standard outpost hab modules side-by-side, allowing you to construct a complete enclosed colony within a single atmospheric shell.
Build order:
– Place the BioDome.
– Build habs and interior structures inside it.
– Select your preferred interior floor preset. (In build edit mode, hover on the semi-cylindrical platform just inside the door and toggle through the available interior floor presets to select the one you prefer. Because of how Starfield handles structure foundations, habs cannot be placed directly on the dome’s built-in floor. The small starting platform lets you build without floor collisions.)
Interior Floor Presets:
Eight built-in, interchangeable interior floor presets give you a finished floor to live on once you’ve built your habs and other structures inside the dome. Swap between them using the same yellow-highlight toggle system used for hab wall variants:
– 6 full-coverage flat floor presets — complete level living space across the interior, with options including decorative trees and plants.
– 1 full-coverage raised floor — ramps up from the entrance to offer a better view outside
– 1 minimal entry platform — allows unrestricted structure placement
Design & Construction:
Built entirely from scratch in Blender and optimized for gameplay:
– Custom geodesic dome mesh
– Full custom collision
– Fully navmeshed
– Generated LOD meshes (visible on maps and at distance)
– Near-LOD meshes (0–3) for reduced rendering load
– Animated airlock
– Working menu icon
Uses vanilla industrial assets for visual consistency.
Includes decorative atmospheric generator, recirculation tanks, and external compressed gas storage.
No power required. It just works™.
Crew Behavior:
– Crew and companions sandbox inside the dome, with NPC idle markers placed throughout
– Fully navmeshed interior
– Some persistent pathing issues in and around the airlock — can’t seem to get this area working perfectly
Performance:
Optimized to minimize impact:
– Combined static elements reduce build budget usage
– Custom LOD prevents pop-in and disappearance
– No known performance issues beyond expected large structure rendering
Compatibility:
– No requirements other than the base game
– No script extender
– No vanilla record edits
– No dirty edits
Compatible with most outpost and environment mods.
Recommended Use:
Perfect for:
– Airless moons
– Toxic atmospheres
– Frozen wastelands
– Irradiated hellscapes
Why This Exists
– Because in the 24th century, living at an outpost should be a civilized experience.
– Because domed colonies are cool.
– Because sometimes you want to see your character’s face.
